“Today we have pasted special handwritten or computer print out papers at our doors to remind the government of our plight. We protested at Sangrur from September 2019 to April 2020 for regular jobs. But Punjab government is not serious about giving us jobs,” said Sukhwinder Singh, President of the union.

Another member, who works as a labourer, said that he is not able to find work during the lockdown.

“If the government can not give us jobs, it should give us unemployment allowance immediately,” said Randeep Sangatpura, press secretary of the union.
