The government on Tuesday suspended Baghapurana Block Primary Education Officer (BPEO) Devi Prasad after a video of him dancing with a woman in his office surfaced on social media.

The authorities concerned have termed the act of the BPEO as professional misconduct. The suspension orders were issued by Secretary School Education, Punjab, Anindita Mitra, after being directed by Punjab School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains.

Though the department was verifying the antecedents of the woman seen dancing with the BPEO, sources said the woman was his wife.

Officials said the video raised serious concerns about the officer’s conduct, prompting immediate intervention. — TNS
