Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa on Wednesday sought the dope test of all 117 legislators — including Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann — while reacting to the announcement that the state government will cover every household under a drug census.

Bajwa is not the first among political leaders to seek the dope test of politicians.

Seven years ago, Amarinder Singh-led Congress Government had ordered to make dope tests mandatory for government employees, including police personnel, at various stages of their service.

The move had drawn widespread criticism. Amarinder Singh then volunteered to undergo the test after AAP leader Aman Arora dared him to take the test and set an example for his ministers and Congress MLAs.

Arora had also underwent a dope test at the Mohali Civil Hospital. The orders on employees was never implemented. Amarinder Singh could not then undergo the test due to prior medications he was taking.
