Senior Superintendent of Police, Jalandhar Rural, Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh, said a police team arrested the accused near Onkar Cold Store, Liddaran village, on February 19. The police seized two 30-bore pistols along with 10 cartridges from him. During preliminary investigation, the accused revealed his connection to Harmandar Singh, a Bambiha gang leader currently lodged in Rohini Jail, Delhi.

The arrest had prevented a potential serious crime, as the weapons were reportedly intended for use during Harmandar Singh’s court appearance in Jalandhar, the police said.

The arrested shooter was involved in several serious crimes in the past. In June 2018, he was booked for sexually assaulting a minor. In May 2022, he attempted a murder and participated in a riot at Kabirpur, Kapurthala.

Investigations have revealed that the accused was an active member of the Bambiha gang and working was directly on the instructions of designated terrorist Arsh Dalla.

“His arrest has disrupted the operations of the Bambiha gang in the region. We are investigating his connections in the area,” the police officer said.
