Banned pills transported through courier service seized

A team of the Health Department found nearly 28,000 banned tablets in a parcel sent through a courier service from Ambala to Sriganganagar.
District Collector Manju has banned the sale of these tablets in the district as these were being reportedly used as drugs.

Chief Medical Health Officer Dr Ajay Singla said he had received a tip-off that a drug, Pregabalin, used as a narcotic, had reached a courier service’s Sriganganagar office and would be supplied to someone at Gharsana. Acting on the information, a team reached the courier office located on the Urban Improvement Trust road.
On checking, nearly 28,000 tablets of the banned medicine were found in two cartons. It was revealed that the consignments had arrived from Ambala and were to be supplied to Gharsana.
The team seized the cartons and handed them over to the police for further action.
