According to the information, the victims had come to the town as part of a baraat (wedding procession) from Himachal Pradesh. As the procession reached outside the marriage palace near Adda Bhode’s Khuh on the Talwara road, a vehicle hit the victims, who were standing on the roadside, and sped away.

While Pankaj died on the spot, Surinder sustained serious injuries. He was admitted to a private hospital in Hoshiarpur for treatment.

On receiving the information, the Talwara police reached the spot. They took the body in their custody and started further investigation. Cops were scanning the CCTV footage installed on the Talwara-Hajipur road to identify the vehicle involved in the mishap.
