Chandigarh: A state-level kite-flying competition and ‘Basant Mela’ is scheduled to be held at Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University in Ferozepur on February 10 and 11. Minister for Tourism and Cultural Affairs Anmol Gagan Mann said there would be various kite flying competitions at the fair, prizes for winners of which would be in the lakhs of rupees. Abohar: Devdutt of Bazidpur Kattianwali village, an orchard contractor, was beaten and allegedly robbed of Rs 1 lakh by three unidentified miscreants Thursday night while he was returning from Dalmirkhera village in a car. A stranger signalled the car to stop near Chuhriwala Dhanna village after which three persons carrying lathis and sharp-edged weapons dragged him out and assaulted him before fleeing.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
