The Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) has been conferred the Best Hydro Power Generator Award for the year 2022-23 by the Independent Power Producers Association of India (IPPAI).

The award is in recognition of the role played by hydro power utilities in achieving green power and their contribution in the nation’s efforts towards a sustainable future.

While receiving the award, BBMB Chairman Sanjay Srivastava said the BBMB is fully committed to contributing towards goal of reaching net zero emissions.

The Board has already identified eight sites, totalling about 12,900 MW of pumped storage plants on the periphery of Bhakra and Pong dam reservoirs, he added.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
