Controversial dera head Baba Piara Singh Bhaniarawala was cremated at his native Dhamana village, near here, today. Bhaniarawala had died yesterday after complaining of chest pain.

His sons Satnam Singh, Sukhdev Singh and Onkar Singh lit the pyre. Beside Rajya Sabha member Shamsher Singh Dullo, a large number of Baba’s followers attended the cremation.

The new dera head would be announced at the ‘antim ardas’ ceremony on January 12, it was learnt.
