Bid being made to overpower SGPC, alleges Dhami
SGPC chief Harjinder Singh Dhami today said constant efforts were being made by the Centre and the state government to overpower the Sikh body. Addressing the congregation held on the occasion of the 104th foundation day of the SGPC at Manji Sahib Diwan Hall in Golden Temple complex, he said efforts were under way to subvert the existence of the SGPC.
“After indirectly taking over the management of Takht Patna Sahib, Takht Hazur Sahib, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee and Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, now their intention is to grab the management of the SGPC,” he said. “The SGPC is a sort of ‘separate state within a state’. This is the reason it rankles in the eyes of the governments,” he said.
