SDO (Mining) Vivek Makkar said acting on a tip-off that some persons were involved in excavation of sand from abandoned Sabuana drain, the department laid a trap. Makkar said when the team reached near the site, unidentified persons tried to flee the spot. However, when the team members tried to block the suspects’ way, Makkar said, they tried to escape on a speeding tractor-trailer, which headed straight towards them on the single link road, forcing them to run helter-skelter to prevent from being crushed. The police reached the spot. However, no suspect has either been identified or arrested so far.
