Police claimed two boys riding a bike with no number plate were signalled to stop at the naka. As they tried to run away, the police fired a warning shot. Their bike, however, skidded on the road and both of them suffered minor injuries. The boys were identified as Class X student Rajinder Singh and Class XII student Harkirat Singh of Kotkapura town. It is, however, alleged that the shot fired by the police hit one boy while the other suffered injuries due to skidding of the bike.

Faridkot SP Jasmeet Singh said nakas had been put up in view of Independence Day. At one such naka, the police tried to stop two bikers, but when they tried to run away, they fell down and were injured. He said the police fired a warning shot in the air. It was yet to be confirmed by the doctors whether any of them had received a bullet injury or not, he added. — TNS
