Deceased farmer’s kin get Rs 7L

Abohar: Deputy Commissioner Senu Duggal handed over a compensation cheque of Rs 7 lakh to the wife of the deceased farmer Bhupinder Pal Singh, who died on Saturday night after falling from a trolley. Bhupinder, along with other protestors, were demanding fair compensation for land to be acquired for a highway bypass. OC

Rs 33.6 cr for anganwadi food

Chandigarh: State government has released an amount of Rs 33.65 crore for food supplied through anganwadi centres. Minister Dr Baljit Kaur said under the Supplementary Nutrition Program Scheme, the supply of food items by Markfed for anganwadi beneficiaries during the current financial year has been paid for by the government. 1 held with intoxicating pills

Abohar: The Sriganganagar police seized 6,750 intoxicating pills from one Sukhwinder Singh Sukha, a resident of Chak 19-GD village, on Wednesday. A team led by Sub-Inspector Mohan Lal, during patrolling, had stopped the bike-borne suspect at Gullu Peer turnabout for checking. A case has been registered against him under NDPS Act.
