The BJP today hit out at the CM Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government for failing to fulfil its promise made to moong cultivators regarding buying their crop at the minimum support price.

BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Jai Hind, citing The Tribune news item on moong in Punjab being bought at the rates below the MSP, said the moong farmers had been taken for a ride, but not a word would be uttered by the INDIA bloc.

“In May 2022, CM Bhagwant Mann had assured the moong cultivators that the government would buy their crops at the MSP fixed by the Central Government, but could not fulfil the promise. As a result, 99 per cent of the purchase had been made at the rates below the MSP by private players,” he said.
