The BJP’s first list of candidates for the Assembly elections will be out in the next few days. According to sources, the party has shortlisted three names for each constituency it is going to contest in alliance with Capt Amarinder Singh-led Punjab Lok Congress and Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa’s Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt).

The final call on the shortlisted names is to be taken by the parliamentary board of the BJP, which will comprise party’s state president Ashwani Sharma, general secretary (organisation) Pavan Rana and national officer-bearers from Punjab, including Tarun Chugh.

The meeting of the board is scheduled early next week. BJP’s state general secretary Shubhash Sharma said the first list would be out soon after the meeting of the board, which is likely to take place on January 20.
