Board releases Rs 2.46 cr grant for Verka plant

Verka Ferozepur Dairy has received Rs 2.46 crore fund along with interest-free loan of Rs 2.28 crore for various development works during the “Farmer’s Dairy Summit” held here.
While addressing the congregation, Rajesh Gupta, Chairman, north region, National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), said, “Under the project — Revitalising promising producers owned institutions scheme — these funds have been released. The sale of dairy products in this region has increased due to which Ferozepur has been given benefit under the project.”
Gurbhej Singh Tibbi, Chairman, Verka, Ferozepur, said, “Dairy business has has the potential to change the lives of farmers,” said Tibbi. RS Sodhi, president, National Dairy Association, said farmers should adopt dairy farming along with agriculture so that their economic condition could improve. Narender Singh Shergil, chairman, MILKFED, said the state government had been making efforts to encourage farmers to adopt dairy farming business. Kamal Garg, Managing Director, MILKFED, and Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman were present on the occasion.
