A youth was shot dead inside his house at Harpal Vihar in Ghanupur Kale by a bootlegger, here on Monday.

Rashpal Singh

The victim, Rashpal Singh, was lying on his bed along with his brother when the accused, Lalit Kumar, entered the former’s house and shot him in the head.

Buta Singh, father of the deceased, alleged that Lalit was involved in drug peddling and he pushed his son Rashpal into addiction.

ACP Dev Dutt said a case was registered and further probe was under way. The accused is absconding and efforts were on to nab him.

ACP Dutt said Lalit had around five cases of bootlegging registered against him. He said initial probe suggests that the duo consumed drugs and fought over money. He said things would be clear once Lalit was held.

As per details, Rashpal and his brother were hooked on to drugs. On Monday, they were present in their room when Lalit came home. He met the victim’s mother and asked about Rashpal’s whereabouts. She told him that he was in the room. Lalit went inside and shot Rashpal in the head, killing him on the spot.

Buta Singh said his family informed him about the incident. He was outside his house for some work. He said he came home and rushed him to the hospital where doctors declared him dead.
