Witnesses who gathered at the scene saw the car driver briefly stopping and driving the injured child to a private hospital on Nai Sadak. However, instead of seeking medical help, the driver abandoned Kala outside the hospital and fled the scene. Eventually, a passer-by named Hartej noticed Kala’s condition and rushed him to the Civil Hospital in his car. In the emergency ward, the child received several stitches to his head. After initial treatment, doctors referred him to a hospital in Bathinda for further care.

Meanwhile, Kala’s family appealed the local authorities to trace the hit-and-run driver using CCTV footage from nearby areas and take appropriate legal action against him. — OC
