Ramesh Kumar and other farmers said the canal had been partly reconstructed, but erosion occurred today in the old canal area. Due to this maize, wheat crop, green fodder and fruit orchards were submerged.

Farmers said after the closure of the canal for the past two months, water had recently been released in the canal and crops needed the same at the moment. Some of them had irrigated crops by operating tube- wells even when canal water was considered useful for these crops. Now when the wheat was ready, water submerged the fields. The state government should grant compensation for the loss, they demanded.
