Briefs: ASI posted at Bathinda Jail held with 45 gm heroin

Bathinda: Around 45 gm heroin was seized from an ASI posted at the Bathinda Jail. The suspect was identified as Gurpreet Singh, an ASI with the Punjab Police Reserve Battalion stationed at the Central Jail. He was allegedly trying to smuggle heroin into the jail.

Drug smuggler’s house demolished in Batala

Batala: The Batala Municipal Corporation has demolished the house of drug smuggler Navsharan Das, alias Kaka, in Qadian under the Batala sub-division. The entire operation was conducted under the supervision of Batala SSP Suhail Qasim Mir. The SSP said six criminal cases, four under the NDPS Act, were registered against the offender at various police stations.

Youth’s body found in canal

Mansa: The body of Dharampreet Singh (26) was found in a canal near the Fatehpur Head at Nandgarh village in Mansa district. His family alleged that some youths from the village might have pushed him into the canal, leading to his death. The police have started investigating the case.
