Fazilka: Doctors and paramedics at the Civil Hospital here have urged the administration to ensure safe environment at their workplace. Speaking to the media, Senior Medical officer (SMO) Dr Edison Eric said an individual carrying a mobile phone barged into his office on Monday and started making a video, besides misbehaving with him. Following a complaint by Dr Sunita, matron, a case was registered at the City police station against Kapil Khatri on Tuesday.

Four arrested under NDPS Act

Ropar: The police arrested five persons in separate cases under the NDPS Act in the district on Wednesday. Those arrested were Rihan of Badi Haveli in Ropar, Arunpreet Singh of Gajpur village in Anandpur Sahib and Bhupinder Singh and Sukhwinder Kaur of Morinda, said Ropar SSP Gulneet Singh Khurana in a press note. In a separate case, Balwant Singh of Chak Holgarh village under the Anandpur Sahib police station was arrested under the Arms Act.

Abohar Municipal Corporation foils encroachment bid

Abohar: Acting on a complaint lodged by some citizens via a state government portal, the municipal corporation on Wednesday foiled an alleged attempt to encroach upon a street here. The complaint was forwarded by the Department of Local Government to the MC. Mayor Vimal Thatai said the MC staff dismantled the poles and barbed wire illegally installed there.
