Ropar: Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains has said that the students of government schools would be given free workbooks by the government during summer vacation. Presiding over a parent-teacher meeting of 13 government schools in the Anandpur Sahib Assembly constituency, he also inaugurated development works worth Rs 1.83 crore in government schools.

Faridkot hospital gets 3-Tesla MRI machine

Muktsar: Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital, Faridkot, has received the state’s first 3-Tesla MRI Magnetom VIDA (64-channel) machine in the government sector. Costing Rs 29.85 crore, the advanced diagnostic machine would benefit people across the Malwa region, said Faridkot MLA Gurdit Singh Sekhon. Dr Rajeev Sood, Vice-Chancellor, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, appreciated the efforts of all those who contributed to acquiring the machine.

NABARD appoints district development manager in Fazilka

Abohar: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has appointed Prashant Baloda as it District Development Manager (DDM) for Fazilka district. The initiative aims at strengthening development interventions and institutional presence in the district that has three administrative subdivisions—Abohar, Fazilka and Jalalabad. Previously, Fazilka was administered under NABARD’s cluster office in Bathinda.
