Patiala: The Archives Department has preserved nearly 10 lakh files of rare and ancient documents, including centuries-old versions of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, royal decrees, manuscripts, official files, Punjab and Centre Government gazettes, rare books, paintings and maps. This was stated by Minister for Tourism and Cultural Affairs Tarunpreet Singh Sond. Around 6 crore pages of these documents had been already digitised under the Punjab Digital Library Project.

3 workers fall unconscious while cleaning water tank

Nangal: Three employees of the Sewerage Board fell unconscious after inhaling toxic fumes while cleaning the water treatment plant in Nangal town of Ropar district. Nangal SDM Sachin Pathak said the employees were cleaning the water tank in the Baba Udoh area of Nangal town. They were using sodium hypochlorite to clean the tank. Now, they are admitted to the GMCH, Sector 32, Chandigarh.

Hot mix plant owners flay govt

Bathinda: Members of the Punjab Hot Mix Plant Owners' Association have condemned the state government for allegedly not awarding them works for the construction of rural link roads. Association president Tara Singh Ahluwalia said, “Tenders worth crores are being floated, but only big firms are being considered.”

Man killed following dispute over dog race

Mansa: Satnam Singh (45) of Ferozepur district was killed near Thuthianwali Chowk here. The incident allegedly occurred following a rivalry between two groups over a dog race. Satnam was reportedly attacked with a wooden log by a group of youths from Barnala and Sirsa districts. One more person was also injured in the attack. Acting on the complaint of deceased’s father Gurmeet Singh, the police have booked Jaipal Singh, Chamna Sidhu and 15 unidentified persons.
