Fazilka: Lalit Arora (35), owner of a sanitary shop, was shot at by two unidentified assailants at Thermal Colony in Bathinda on Monday. Lalit used to visit a tea kiosk every morning. While he was sitting there on Monday, two motorcycle-borne men opened fire on him and fled. Lalit, a resident of the Santpura road area here, reportedly sustained bullet injuries on the arm and thigh. He was taken to the local Civil Hospital from where he was referred to the AIIMS, Bathinda. TNS

Girl falls into open well, dies

Mansa: A 21-year-old girl lost her life after she accidentally fell into an open well at Joga village in Mansa on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Shazia, a resident of Kishanpura village in Moga. The well, reportedly over 100-feet deep, had been lying unused for a long. The body has been kept at the Mansa Civil Hospital to conduct post-mortem examination. OC

3 children drown in canal

Hanumangarh: Three children died due to drowning in the PBN canal near Dulmana village on Monday. The deceased were identified as Krishan (12), his brother Vakil (10) and Raman (12) of Dulmana village. Investigations indicated that they had gone to the fields near the PBN canal, about 2 km away from the village. From there, they had headed towards the canal while grazing sheep and goats. OC
