Sangrur: The police have arrested four persons in three cases under the NDPS Act. Amanjot Singh and Lovepreet Ram, both residents of Dirba, were arrested after 200 gm heroin was seized from them. The suspects, who were travelling in a car, threw an envelope outside the vehicle on seeing a naka near Laad Banjara Kalan village. Cops found heroin in it and arrested them. In another case, Ajay Kumar of Sangrur was arrested with 12 gm of heroin. Besides, the Dhuri Sadar police arrested a woman after recovering 7 gm of heroin from her.

Public frees suspect from police custody in Fazilka

Fazilka: A group of people freed a youth from police custody after a scuffle at Jhangar Bhaini village here on Monday. Sources said a police team had gone to the village on receiving a complaint and nabbed a youth with a sharp weapon. When the cops were making him sit in their vehicle, some of his family members and other people scuffled with the police and freed him. They also tore the uniform of a cop.
