The world-famous ceremony was suspended following the escalation of tension between India and Pakistan in the aftermath of the Pahalgam massacre which claimed 26 lives. This was followed by Indian Armed Forces carrying out missile strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir under Operation Sindoor on May 6.

Though the customary flag-lowering ritual continued by the BSF at the joint check-post, the regular parade by the BSF jawans was stopped on May 7.
