Constructed around five years ago, Tapa bus stand is far away from being inaugurated. As a result, residents are compelled to board buses from the main road (Chandigarh to Bathinda Road), thus leading to frequent traffic jams and accidents.

Satnam Singh Rahi, who contested the 2022 Assembly poll on the SAD ticket, said: “Tapa bus stand was constructed by the SAD-BJP government. When the project got completed, the model code of conduct came into force and our government was unable to inaugurate it. Despite repeated requests, the Congress government failed to inaugurate it.”

Anil Kumar, chief of Tapa nagar council, said: “The bus stand was constructed inside the city. It should have come up on the main road.”

Bhadaur AAP MLA Labh Singh Ugoke said: “I have taken up the matter with senior authorities. We will get the bus stand inaugurated and provide all facilities.” —
