The Punjab State Election Commission has announced the schedule for the conduct of the by-elections to 90 posts of sarpanches and 1,711 posts of panches.The polling will be held on July 27.After the conduct of the general election of the gram panchayats on October 15, 2024, 90 posts of sarpanches and 1,771 posts of panches are currently vacant in different districts as per the information received from the Department of Rural Development and Panchayats. In order to fill these posts, the State Election Commission has announced the bye-election schedule.As per the schedule, July 14 will be the first date for the filing of the nominations (between 11 am and 3 pm) in the offices of the Returning Officers concerned.

The last date for filing the nominations will be July 17 up to 3 pm. The scrutiny of the nominations will be conducted on July 18 and the last date for the withdrawal of the candidatures will be July 19.
