Undeterred by the attachment of property of Khalistani activists — Gurpatwant Singh Pannu and Hardeep Singh Nijjar — secessionist group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) has raised the grant amount to Rs 3,500 monthly to help state farmers defaulting on their agricultural loans.

A day after the NIA ordered confiscation of property of SFJ’s general counsel Gurpatwant Singh Pannu and Referendum 2020 Canada coordinator Hardeep Nijjar, the SFJ today made a revision in the grant amount.

Pannu said: “The history of Sikh people is a witness that no amount of repression can break the resolve of Sikhs for independence. India can take my land, but will not be able to stop Referendum 2020.”

The SFJ has also given a call for ‘Rail Roko’ on September 13 to highlight the government’s alleged criminal negligence behind the spurt in the number of farmers committing suicide. — TNS

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
