The Punjab State Crime Police Station has booked Canadian resident Jagman Samra for posting "vulgar, unlawful" content on social media to incite enmity among people.

The police said users of the Facebook account uploaded multiple posts with the mala fide intention to create enmity among people and was prejudicial to the maintenance of public harmony in the state of Punjab.

"The content is vulgar, unlawful and has the potential to incite hatred, enmity and ill-will among groups of people," the complaint read.

The police said preliminary examination also suggested that the material in question might be Al-generated, further complicating its potential impact and authenticity.

The post came to light when the social media monitoring cell noticed the post on the Facebook.

On the complaint of Inspector Gaganpreet Singh, a case under Sections 340 (2), 352 (1), 353 (2), 351 (2), 336 (4), and 67 IT Act of the BNS was registered at the Punjab State Crime Police Station.

Cops said the authenticity and veracity of the alleged content would be thoroughly examined during the course of the investigation. Copies of the FIR were being sent to Illaqa Magistrate and senior officers for further action.
