Chandigarh: In order to ensure timely launch of Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre by November at Medicity in New Chandigarh, Chief Secretary Vini Mahajan, has started weekly review of the project. Mahajan said all pending works at C-wing would be completed before September 15 to ensure installation of radiology equipment. TNS

Body found at Fazilka village waterworks; two booked

Fazilka: Panic gripped Chack Singhewla Senia after the body of a youth was recovered from the village waterworks. The mother of victim Malkeet Singh (30), a resident of Jhuge Gulab Singh village, alleged her son was last seen with Raman Singh and an unidentified person, who had come to their residence and taken him along. The two have been booked for murder. OC

Man, son injured as shots fired over land dispute

Sangrur: A resident of Dhandoli Kalan village opened fire at his uncle and cousin. Police said the accused, Tarsem Singh, opened fire on his uncle Jagpal Singh and his son Sukhdarshan Singh on Sunday after having arguments over a piece of land. “Both are under treatment. A case has been registered under Section 307, IPC,” the police said. TNS
