Candidates of the Congress, BJP, and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) filed their nominations for the upcoming by-election to be held for three wards of the Municipal Corporation, Hoshiarpur. However, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) did not field any candidate in these wards.

AAP candidates Rajeshwar Dayal Babbi (Ward No. 6), Narinder Kaur (Ward No. 7), and Sharanjit Kaur Hundal (Ward No. 27) submitted their nomination papers in the presence of MLA Brahm Shankar Jimpa, Mayor Surinder Kumar Shinda, Senior Deputy Mayor Praveen Saini, Deputy Mayor Ranjita Chaudhary and party workers.

After filing their nomination papers, all three AAP candidates expressed confidence that they had public support and would win the upcomig elections.

The BJP also finalised its candidates for all three wards. Rajat Thakur (Ward No. 6), Sonika Nehra (Ward No. 7) and Daisy (Ward No. 27) submitted their nomination papers.

From the Congress, prominent social workers Sunil Dutt Parashar (Ward No. 6), Paramjit Kaur (Ward No. 7) and Davinder Kaur Mann (Ward No. 27) filed their papers, aiming to bring about further improvement in the city.
