The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has notified the land acquisition for the widening of the Kiratpur Sahib-Nangal highway.

Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said it would boost development in the area as the road serves as a vital link between Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.

It connects religious places like Anandpur Sahib and Naina Devi.

He said the land acquisition will be taken up at 21 villages in Nangal and 34 in Anandpur Sahib.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
