The Leader of Opposition (LoP) Partap Singh Bajwa today slammed the PM Modi-led NDA government for non-procurement and tardy lifting of produce from mandis across the state.

During his visit to a grain market in Rampura Phul, the LoP said as Punjabis did not vote for the BJP, they want to “teach a lesson” to the farmers, commission agents and rice millers by slowing down the procurement process.

He said he had observed serious issues related to procurement, lifting and shortage of gunny bags. He pointed out that around 50,000 commission agents and 550 rice millers were suffering along with the farmers. He added that had the Centre lifted the stored rice on time from godowns, the problem would not had occurred.

The LoP said CM Bhagwant Mann had remained dormant for six months and when the situation has become critical, AAP started blaming the BJP.
