In his address, he targeted his opponents, including ex-CM Capt Amarinder Singh, former SAD minister Bikram Singh Majithia and SAD chief Sukhbir Badal “for standing with forces inimical to state”.
He said, “While panchayats were playing a big role by passing resolutions of making their villages drug-free and corruption-free, Captain, Badal and Majithia continued the dubious legacy of their families to backstab the state and its people for their vested interests.”He alleged that Majithia’s ancestors had betrayed people by hosting dinner for General Dyer on the day of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919. “Similarly, Capt Amarinder has become very vocal about human rights of his nephew — Majithia. His family too has stood with every force inimical to the state whether they were Mughals, British or now the BJP,” the CM alleged.
Mann said, “It is unfortunate that even after more than 75 years of freedom, the benefits of it have still not reached every household.”
He said it was for the first time in Punjab’s history, a CM and his entire Cabinet took oath of office on the sacred land of Khatkar Kalan.
