Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann claimed that he is the harbinger of a new economic development model in the state, throwing a jibe at the Congress today. He said that while he continues to work for the welfare of Punjab, the Congress is telling the world the price of procuring a chief minister, minister or MLA post in their party.

Mann, who had just returned from a 10-day trip to Japan and Korea, where he had gone to seek investment for Punjab, said the infighting in Congress reveals the “neeyat” of their leaders and their lack of commitment to the welfare of Punjab. “On the other hand, my government has been working to bring the state economy back on track. You can easily see the difference. There are others (in a clear reference to SAD) who are working for the political resurrection of people like Virsa Singh Valtoha,” he said, adding that the people of Punjab are watching every move by all political parties and making an opinion.

Mann also gave details of his visit to Japan and South Korea. He said that many Japan-based MNCs are willing to invest in Punjab in the IT sector, medical and agriculture research, horticulture and other sectors. “They will be participating in the investment summit being held here from March 14-16,” he said.
