Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has directed officials to organise a special “Kisan Milni” at Punjab Agriculture University (PAU) in Ludhiana on April 12 to educate farmers on paddy cultivation. Chairing a meeting here at his official residence, the Chief Minister said that the initiative aims to sensitise farmers on innovative and water-efficient techniques for paddy transplantation, as well as promote high-yielding varieties approved by PAU.

He said that the state government has decided to advance the paddy cultivation season from June 1 to avoid complications in selling paddy harvests due to high moisture content in October, adding that the state will be divided into zones to implement a phased sowing mechanism, ensuring effective planning and arrangements.

The CM said that renowned agriculture experts will be involved to benefit farmers during this Milni. Meanwhile, he reiterated that the state government is committed to checking the sale of spurious seeds, with strict action against those involved.
