IX to XII of all state-run schools, in Arniwala sub-tehsil of Fazilka district today.
Kejriwal, while addressing the gathering, said that the AAP government had set an example by introducing anti-drug syllabus in classes and others states would have to follow the footsteps of the Punjab Government.
Accusing the opposition party leaders in Punjab, Kejriwal said that everyone started crying after he was put behind bars (indicating SAD
leader Bikram Singh Majithia) and they joined hands to defend the “biggest smugglers of drugs”.
He also accused the ministers of the previous government of facilitating their official vehicles to drug smugglers.
He announced that after the successful launch of the project, a similar curriculum would also
be introduced in private schools and colleges.
Without naming anybody, Mann said that the leaders of opposition parties, particularly the Congress, joined hands and started crying over
the arrest. He alleged that some of these leaders patronised the drug smugglers and encouraged the drug menace.
He said the main aim behind the introduction of the anti-drug curriculum was to make youths aware of the menace in their formative years of life.
He said that besides this, lecturers, motivators and doctors shall visit schools to apprise students about the adverse affects of
drugs.
While lashing out at opposition party leaders, Mann alleged that earlier, drugs were supplied in the cars of ministers and his
government would put them behind the bars.
Braving incessant rains, a large number of teachers of six nearby districts, including Fazilka, Ferozepur, Moga, Muktsar, Faridkot and
Bathinda, thronged the venue.
According to official sources, the teachers were directed to attend the
programme.
Notably, the curriculum has been created by nobel laureate Abhijit Banerjee led J-PAL South Asia.
The syllabus would empower about 8 lakh students in 3,658 schools with prevention-focused skills to combat substance abuse.
