Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday ordered the release of additional water to Rajasthan for catering to the needs of the Army in the state.

In a statement issued here today, the CM said that Rajasthan Government had sought more water from the quota of Punjab as the military deployed on the Rajasthan border needed additional water.

He categorically said that whenever national interests were concerned, Punjab never took the backseat. Water had been released to secure the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the country, he added.

The CM said not only water, Punjab could shed its blood for the sake of national interests. He said it was a matter of fact that Punjab could never drag its feet back when the issue of the country was involved. He said keeping in view the needs of the soldiers of the country, he had immediately order
