Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister of State Vijay Sampla has said that Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann’s lackadaisical attitude had started resulting in the termination of crucial national highway projects.

Ideally, the CM should have gone to attend the meeting with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Monday, but he sent state PWD Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO and that too with incomplete information, he said.

“If the CM does not attend tomorrow’s meeting as well, it will be considered that he is not serious towards the materialisation of Rs 52,000-crore projects for laying 1,500-km highways in the state,” he said.

“The state is already struggling to attract new investments…. Due to Bhagwant Mann’s tacit support to the politically motivated protests by farmer organisations, the national highway infrastructure projects approved by the Centre have started getting terminated now. This will cost the people of the state dearly,” he said.
