Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann would supervise the start of the technical survey for the new Malwa canal to be constructed at Sotha village in Gidderbaha on Saturday. The canal, announced by the AAP-led state government earlier this year, was being constructed to meet the water shortage in the Malwa region. A team of officials from the Water Resources Department has been called there. This seems to be an exercise in anticipation of the announcement of the byelections for the Gidderbaha assembly segment, which is scheduled shortly.
