Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today inaugurated a government degree college at Sukhchain village, which is a part of the open wildlife sanctuary area spread over 25 villages. The foundation stone of the college was laid by the then minister Pargat Singh on December 20, 2021.

The CM said after educating the girls till class 10 or 12, people in villages used to start looking for a groom for their marriage. It was considered less safe for girls from this area to go to Abohar and Malout for higher studies. Now, 250 students of the area, including 150 girls, would have access to higher education near their homes.
