Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian on Wednesday directed the department officials to complete the 21st livestock census by the end of February 2025.

Stressing importance of data collection regarding the number of animals categorised by their breeds and other characteristics, he said this field survey would serve as a critical touchstone, highlighting the current status of the livestock sector and setting the stage for future planning. The minister, along with Punjab State Farmers’ & Farm Workers’ Commission Chairman Dr Sukhpal Singh, held a meeting with the Animal Husbandry Department officials to review the ongoing projects.
