Cong forms assets dept, appoints Singla in-charge
The Congress on Wednesday established a new department to oversee its assets and properties across the country. Vijay Inder Singla, a former Punjab minister and ex-MP from Sangrur, has been made in-charge of that department.
By virtue of the orders issued by AICC general secretary KC Venugopal, Singla becomes a member of the party’s Central Working Committee (CWC).
From Punjab, former CM Charanjit Channi and MP Manish Tewari (as special invitee) are members of the CWC. Singla will continue to hold the post of joint treasurer of the AICC. A close aide of Rahul Gandhi, Singla has handled Congress’ financial matters in the past also.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now
in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is
run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any
bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and
partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense
of the term.
The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
