Congress leaders slam AAP for failing to curb drug menace in Punjab

Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and CLP leader Partap Singh Bajwa today blamed the AAP government in Punjab for not making serious efforts to curb the drug menace in the state.

Addressing a massive rally on 'Naukari Devo Nasha Nahi' organised here today by Punjab Youth Congress, Raja Warring hailed Punjab Youth Congress president Mohit Mohindra for taking initiative against drugs and unemployment in the state. He said that 40 deaths due to drug overdose were reported every month and many even go unreported in Punjab.

Underlining the role of Youth Congress in state politics, he said that at least 60 seats should be allotted to youth in the 2027 Assembly elections.

The PPCC president alleged that he felt sorry that former CM Capt Amarinder Singh “failed the Congress in taking action against drug lords”. He added that Singh had betrayed the Congress and the party would prepare a road map to end the drug menace in the state.

Leader of opposition Partap Singh Bajwa said that Arvind Kejriwal was preparing ground to grab the Rajya Sabha seat from Punjab and that’s why they have fielded Rajiv Arora from Ludhiana south seat for the byelection. “People of Punjab would not tolerate Kejriwal ruling Punjab without any mandate”, he stated.
