Ludhiana MP and Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring today urged Health Minister JP Nadda to provide free cancer treatment in the country.

Speaking in Parliament, Warring said cases of cancer were rising at alarming level. He said, “After being elected as an MP from Ludhiana, I have signed numerous letters related to treatment of patients suffering from cancer.” He added that cancer incidence rate had increased by 7.45 per cent over the last three years in Punjab.

“The cases of cancer have gone up from 39,521 in 2021 to 42,288 in 2024 in the state. Women are predominantly affected by breast and cervix uteri cancer, while men suffer from esophagus cancer,” he said. He asked Nadda why the treatment of cancer and its medicine cannot be made free?
