A police constable was allegedly caught injecting a drug in his body in a bathroom of a Kotkapura gurdwara on Thursday.

The accused has been identified as Ranjeet Singh, a resident of Sarawan village near Kotkapura. He is currently posted as a constable with the Moga police.

Ranjeet Singh was apprehended by employees of the gurdwara. The shrine employees recovered the drug and a syringe from the Moga police constable.

The police took the constable into custody and initiated a medical examination to confirm drug use.

“We have informed the Moga police about the incident and a departmental inquiry will follow,” said Manvinder Singh, SP (Headquarters).
