Cops seize Rs 3 cr assets of peddlers in Faridkot

In a move against drug trafficking, the Faridkot police seized properties, worth Rs 3.38 crore of 13 notorious drug peddlers operating in the district. The action was taken under the stringent provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, a law aimed at curbing drug-related crimes and disrupting the activities of drug cartels, said Dr Pragya Jain, SSP, Faridkot.

The properties, including houses, vehicles and other assets, were confiscated as part of a comprehensive strategy to dismantle the financial networks supporting the drug trade.

The SSP revealed that these properties were acquired by drug smugglers using proceeds from the illegal narcotics business.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
