The state seems to be heading towards the pre-February Covid-19 situation as almost after a gap of four months, the number of active cases in the state has fallen below 4,000.

As per the Covid bulletin issued today, the number of active Covid cases stood at 3,639. In the third week of January, the number had fallen to 2,000. But with the onset of the second wave, the number started increasing rapidly, reaching over 80,000 in mid-May.

During the peak, the state was witnessing around 9,000 cases and over 200 deaths every day. But the number of daily cases has now fallen to 200-300. Also, the state is currently reporting 20 deaths every day. The state had registered the highest single-day spike of 9,100 fresh cases on May 8. — TNS
