A crime suspect opened fire on the police near Buhara village in SBS Nagar where he was taken for weapon recovery on Thursday night. Suspect Amandeep of Garupur village was injured in the retaliatory fire by the police.

A police team had taken Amandeep to a canal at Buhara village, where he had allegedly hidden a pistol used in a previous crime. During the operation, Amandeep retrieved the weapon and fired at the police team. Police personnel fired in self-defence and a bullet hit Amandeep in the leg.
